From a family of limited means, Rembrandt's education became the focus of his family. Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, at the age of 14, was enrolled at the University of Leiden. Losing interest in the program, he turned to art.

Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn, at the age of 22, was so highly sought after that he began taking on pupils, including some famous artists in their own rights.

Despite Rembrandt's high demand and teaching skill, Rembrandt's family life was plagued with misfortune. This did not hurt Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn's work though, if anything, his art was the only constant throughout his life.
